The Story

Jac Ty'isha

We honour John Hughes, known locally as Jac Ty'isha, a central figure in the Rebecca Riots. From Ty'isha farm near Tumble, he helped organise the movement's most significant escalation, and was captured and transported to Tasmania for it.

His story has lived quietly in our valley over generations. Now we make it visible, audible and tangible.

Building on The Great Mountain Portrait (2023), this next chapter turns its focus to a powerful local story, a living portrait of who we are, shaped by identity, resilience and shared pride.
